Solihull CEP are working in partnership with United by 2022 to develop and deliver 5 week-long workplace incubators, to give young people (aged 16-24) the opportunity to take part in valuable work experience in the creative industries. These 5 incubators work as intensive weeks, designed to mimic the pressures and opportunities of real careers in the creative and cultural industries.
The 5 incubators are:
TV
Led by Caroline Officer
29th July - 2nd August
Film
Led by Tiger Features
14th - 18th October
Music
Led by Liz Birch
12th - 16th August
Visual Arts
Led by Art At The Heart
19th - 23rd August (with potential for 2nd week)
Theatre
Led by Calico Theatre
28th October - 1st November
Throughout our work as a CEP, we are constantly asked for valuable work experience in the arts that doesn't just mean working on the cafe at your local theatre. Young people tell us they want to be valued as professionals, and find opportunities that create real routes into the professional sector.

Each incubator has allowed 8-10 young people (age 16-24) to collaborate on a specifically tailored programme with unique outcomes. This includes the development of a new theatre show, film, music performance or public art piece for example.
Young people have been recruited from a diverse range of backgrounds from across Solihull, via both referrals and applications.

A key aim of the project will be to maximise engagement from NEETS, Young People at risk of offending and those from lower socio-economic groups, so we have also been working with Youth services, Alternative Provisions and West Midlands Police to give the opportunity to harder to reach young people in the borough.

The project is being led by the Solihull CEP youth board.
